Doctor Who – Class

No I’m not talking about the high school reunion episode starring David Tennant as the 10th regeneration of the Doctor, but of the upcoming spin off series, Class.

Good morning class, are we sitting comfortably? – Tenth Doctor

Set around the halls of Coal Hill High School, which made its first debut at Doctor Who’s release in 63 with the first Doctor (is now Academy and former school of the S9’s Clara Oswald) and focuses on the adventures of  Katherine Kelly (Ms Quill) and students , Sophie Hopkins (April), Fady Elsayed (Ram), Greg Austin (Charlie), and Vivian Oparah (Tanya) who like all High School students must deal with anything from navigating a life of friends, facing down their worst fears,  parents, school work, sex, sorrow – and possibly… the end of existence!

After the Doctors countless adventures in Time and Space, the fabric of reality has become strained and something is lurking in the dark, trying to break through…except this time its not prisoner Zero.

From what we know so far, The Doctor will make a short cameo during the series but will be more focused on the students…one in particular (Greg) is [as the Atraxi put it] not of this world.

Episode 1, ‘For Tonight We Might Die’: “It’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack from the monstrous Shadow Kin, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them.

“Charlie, April, Ram and Tanya, assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill, are now charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as ‘The Doctor’: to guard against the creatures of nightmare, who want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.

“And this incursion is only the beginning…”

Class premiers on on BBC Three online – beginning with a double-bill on Saturday, October 22 – before getting a terrestrial airing on BBC One.
